About
A Kinder Place (AKP) is a 501c3 organization established in 2024 with the goal of helping college students help others. This will be done through financial assistance for service and philanthropy, scholarships, and networking.
AKP was founded by Gary Baker, who spent 15 years working in Student Affairs on numerous college campuses. During that time, Gary worked with thousands of students and hundreds of student organizations who gave countless hours of their time to make a difference in their communities. Often times, these students would go into their own pockets in order to give back to the community.
AKP was established in 2024 to assist college students with their service and philanthropy by helping make those initiatives easier for them to fund and facilitate. We believe that reinforcing a culture of giving during these formative years will help to continue a lifetime of giving back.
The mission of A Kinder Place is To promote a culture of giving by providing opportunities for college students to contribute to and connect with their communities through fundraising, volunteerism and advocacy.
The vision of A Kinder Place is Helping People Help People.
The values of A Kinder place are Leadership, Inclusion, Community and Social Responsibility.
